Drivers escape serious injury
By Charles Bradley Sunday, April 22nd 2007, 14:28 GMT
DTM marshals clear up debris at the scene of the crash between Kristensen and Premat at HockenheimNeither Tom Kristensen nor Alexandre Premat are understood to have suffered any serious injuries in the huge multi-car pile-up that halted the opening DTM round at Hockenheim.
The race was stopped after Kristensen's spinning Audi was collected at high speed by the similar car of Premat, in a crash that also involved Adam Carroll (Audi) and Susie Stoddart (Mercedes), who were completely unscathed.
Premat got out of his car, but immediately lay down next to it on the grass. Kristensen underwent a full extrication process from his wrecked car, which had been struck at the front and rear.
Although there is no official statement yet available about their health, autosport.com understands that there are no major concerns about Kristensen, although he will be kept in Mannheim hospital overnight for observation.
Premat, however, is believed to have a possible neck injury in his head-on impact, and has been taken to the same hospital in Ludwigsburg where Heinz-Harald Frentzen was treated for a head injury following the DTM finale in 2005.
